Welcome to the Inter‑Society

The Inter‑Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc, was founded for the purpose of fostering inter-active dialogue and joint projects among distribution, exhibition and trade organizations.

Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, the Inter‑Society has recently completed the process of incorporation. Membership is composed of trade organizations, corporations involved in the motion picture industry, studios, exhibitors, technical consultants, and non-affiliated industry persons. When founded, five trade organizations signed on as charter members. The groups-ACVL, ITEA, MPAA, NATO, and SMPTE-remain active and each has designated a voting delegate to the newly-formed Board of Directors. The By Laws were updated to reflect the requirements of the Articles of Incorporation in 2003.

The Board of Directors consists of nine seats, one from each charter member, the three officers, and a director elected from among the active members. The directors, like the officers, serve two-year terms. The charter member delegates may be reelected to additional terms.

Today, the Inter‑Society numbers over 50 trade organizations, corporations, studios, exhibitors, and individuals among its members.
